Beyond the Horizon

Those who immerse themselves in the world of work expose themselves to risks. The aim of the North Rhine-Westphalia Accident Insurance Fund is to subjectively and objectively the highest level of security for the contributors. Several million people trust the service network of the Düsseldorf-based company. A photographically alienated panorama of the course of the Rhine runs through the reception area as a 16-meter-long light box.

With the work of the Düsseldorf artist Stephan Kaluza mediated by Samuelis Baumgarte Art Consulting, the insurance company makes it clear that some phenomena require a greater imagination than the boundaries of the horizon seem to dictate. These include his photographic works with Rhine motifs installed in Plexiglas light boxes. The object of the property at the company's headquarters in Heyestrasse is the Medienhafen, one of the major showcase projects in the trade fair city of Düsseldorf with its modern building complex designed by star architect Frank O. Gehry.

The former company site in Sankt-Franziskus-Straße was designed with works of art by the Cologne painter Friedhelm Falke and the Stuttgart photographer Martin Wolf Wagner, whose artistic signature is the interplay of light and shadow.
