AIDAmar - An Oasis of Adventure on the high seas
The latest cruise ship in the AIDA fleet - AIDAmar - was christened on the evening of May 12, 2012 with an elaborate staging accompanied by three sister ships in the port of Hamburg. A total of 1.4 million guests attended the 823rd Hamburg Port Birthday.
With AIDAmar, one of the most modern and environmentally friendly cruise ships is on the move. The waste heat from the on-board drive is used to operate the air conditioning and water treatment. The Heat Recovery System is unique in the world and is being used for the first time on AIDAmar. The ship saves one ton of fuel a day.
In addition, on November 22, 2012, the cruise ship received the coveted Cruise Guide Award 2012 in the Sport and Wellness category at this year's “Cruise Night” gala in Hamburg. The prize is awarded by Bellevue and More Verlag. The award honors special achievements and innovative concepts in the cruise. AIDAmar convinced with an outstanding sports and wellness offer on over 2,600 square meters.
Samuelis Baumgarte Art Consulting was commissioned with the artistic design of the pool deck, the restaurants and stairwells, corridors and cabins.
